The 6th grade Health and Physical Education program follows the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. The main focus areas of the 6th grade curriculum are as follows:
In Physical Education, we will emphasize fitness over games. I am hoping that your child will develop the motivation to exercise, not just during PE class, but also at home. I want your child to take charge of his/her health and make the lifestyle adjustments necessary to live a long and healthy life.
Supplies for class Supplies for PE
3-ring binder with dividers Lace-up or Velcro-strapped athletic shoes – slip-ons are not allowed
Loose-leaf paper T-shirts (gray or white) long and short sleeve or school uniform
Red ink pen Shorts (navy or black) or school uniform
Wood pencils Sweatshirts and pants for colder weather
Highlighters Water bottle for P.E.
Keep in mind that clothes will get dirty and possibly torn during PE. Please do not buy expensive clothing; just good quality clothing that is appropriate for strenuous physical activity. Also, be sure that the clothes your child brings for PE abide by the dress code of Central Middle School as stipulated in the Student Handbook your child will receive. Last year the school made arrangements with a company to provide Central Middle School P.E. uniforms at a reasonable price. I will let you know when the arrangements have been made for the 2018/19 school year.
I know that we are going to have a great year, and I look forward to working with your child.
