Dear Parents/Guardians,
I would like to welcome you and your child to Central Middle School. The transition from elementary school to middle school can be a little intimidating to some kids, but I assure you the teachers and administrators at Central will do everything they can to make that transition as smooth as possible.
The 6th grade Health and Physical Education program follows the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. The main focus areas of the 6th grade curriculum are as follows:
In Physical Education, we will emphasize fitness over games. I am hoping that your child will develop the motivation to exercise, not just during PE class, but also at home. I want your child to take charge of his/her health and make the adjustments necessary to live a long and healthy life.
Because of the demolition of the gym, there will have to be adjustments to the way the PE teachers conduct their classes. I will keep you informed of new developments and I will post the PE schedule on my website calendar, and give a copy for the students to keep in their binders as soon as it is available.
If you have any questions about what we're doing in the classroom or P.E., please give me a call. I have first period planning, so I can usually be reached between 8:30 and 9:20. Thank you for your support.
